Diet Special: Choosing Between Frozen Yogurt and Ice-Cream – By Mansi Padechia

Its summer time and the best way to beat the heat is by simply enjoying a cup of ice-cream. But, for all those who are counting their calorie intake every single day, here is something special to help you fight your craving for ice-cream in this prickly heat.

Choosing between Frozen yogurt and Ice-cream

Frozen yogurt is a healthy replacement for ice-creams. It is not made from cream and has no fat requirement. Instead, Frozen yogurt is made from cultured milk which we eat regularly at home, yogurt. Frozen yogurt satisfies your sweet craving and also limits your calorie intake which is otherwise very high due to the cold icy fat filled desserts, usually eaten during summers.

Fat is the main nutritional difference between ice-cream and frozen yogurt. 1 cup frozen yogurt has 220 calories, 6 gm fat, 5 gm protein and 35 gm sugar. Where as, a cup of ice-cream includes 500 – 600 calories, less protein and high amount of fat and sugar.

Choosing Frozen Yogurt instead of ice-cream will help reduce your size making you feel healthier. Also, choosing healthy toppings on your yogurt such as fresh fruits, nuts and granola can help increase the amount of fibers and protein in your body. Moreover, as they are natural, the toppings will have low fat, sugar and calories.

So, enjoy the heat with cold, frozen yogurt.
