You don’t even need to walk fast. Just walk as normal and your these steps will help improve your body’s cardiovascular strength, which will help burn some fat. In May 2013, Life Science Division of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory said that walking is better than running. News to you right? Well here is why.

On the basis of the research they had conducted on 33,000 runners and 16,000 walkers for 6 months they found the following (considering that both the sections have performed their activity on a daily basis):

 

Walkers:

  • 7.2% Low risk of suffering from High blood pressure
    start walking
  • 7% Low risk of suffering from high cholesterol
  • 12.3% Low risk of getting diabetes
  • 9.3% Low risk of getting any cardiovascular disease

Runners:

Although, their rate begins with more positive graph but with time it decreases and reaches lower than walkers.

  • 4.2% Low risk of suffering from High blood pressure

  • 4.3% Low risk of suffering from high cholesterol
  • 12.1% Low risk of getting diabetes
  • 4.5% Low risk of getting any cardiovascular disease

The reason behind this decline is the use of energy. The runners use extra energy than walkers. If walkers would walk more than the usual they will also be in the runners’ graph. So next time when somebody asks you if you do exercise or not, say “Yes, I do”.
