I Fought For My Safety!

Women Awareness for self-defence tactics has become more important these days! It is important to be prepared and ready for any situation that may occur in our everyday life or on any given day. Here is something that happened recently which I would like to share with all, especially women for their safety.

Escaping from a drunk stranger!

What Happened: Two girls (I and my colleague) on our way home after a client meeting from Sindhroat – Sevasi Road, Vadodara, came across a drunk guy aged just around 17 years. The boy followed us and came near our vehicle. Before we could drive away, he started speaking insane things like, “Where you from, Where you going, What’s your name?”

We avoided talking or looking at him, thinking that a drunk stranger may cause further nuisance which should be avoided for our safety. Thinking so, we tried to escape him by increasing the speed of our vehicle. Seeing this, the boy already high in alcohol, tried to stop us by grabbing the key of our vehicle. But, he lost control over his vehicle and crashed into us. Scared, me and my friend stopped our vehicle and had no idea what to do next.

The boy started using foul language and asked us for their IDs. He introduced himself as a Police guy and that we would have to pay him a fee. To this, we asked for the boy’s police ID card and why he was not in his uniform. These questions angered the boy and he cam close, almost about to hit us.

Crime-against-womensHow we escaped: Before the boy could hit us, I grabbed the keys from the boy’s vehicle and pushed it on the road. My friend pushed the boy and ran away towards our vehicle. We drove away to a safe distance and then threw away the key of the boy’s vehicle and called the police for help.

Result of action: Based on the Police investigation that stranger was also involved in the Kidnap and Rape case of a 23 year old girl. But, now he was arrested and put behind bars.

My Questions to the readers: Is it okay to treat a 17 year old guy as juvenile? While he is committing a crime such as rape! Is our judiciary system correct?

My advice to others: Any crime against women is a violation! And every woman has the right to fight for her life, her dignity and safety. So, don’t be scared anymore! Raise your voice, take action against violence, and you will be safe. Share the incident with others and you will create awareness in the society. Be Brave, Be Strong, Be a Safe woman!
