Elisha Kriis Shares the Secret of Beautiful Skin

Beauty is Skin Deep!!! This is one truth we all women accept and spend almost half our earnings on skin treatments and facials to keep it looking refreshing and healthy. And to help you learn more things about your skin, here are some of secrets of model, anchor and now producer Elisha Kriis…

Have you faced any challenges with your Skin growing up?

Well I have had the most sensitive skin growing up and I still do. The only difference is, now I just know how to handle it better. I have never had issues so to say with zits and pimples as much as I have had with white heads and skin reactions due to change in hormones, stress, travelling and outdoor sports. While I was in school my only way to commute was on a bicycle. I used to ride a bike to school, tuitions and even to my friend’s house. One side it kept me fit but on the other hand it gave me all sorts of skin trouble due to excessive exposure to sun and a heavy physical work out in a hot climate like Vadodara.

I remembered all the skin reactions I would have show up out of nowhere. So as far as skin troubles are concerned, we all have been there and it is something that can easily be repaired and transformed.

As a teenager growing up, how did you approach your skin issues?

The first thing one needs to do is to know your skin. When I wasn’t happy with the little imperfections I had, the first thing I did was started reading about the skin disorders I experienced and how to repair them permanently. So, the first step for all of us, is to know our skin type whether it is oily, dry or mixed. Mostly all of us have a mixed skin type, meaning excessive oil secretion on the T zone on your face, around the nose and chin. Once you know your skin type, you can then deal with them better.

According to you what kind of diet one needs to have for a healthy skin?

I think your body is your Temple. It is true whatever you consume will show up on your face. As a child I remembered having spicy mango pickles resulted in big pimples the very next day. I still don’t know if there is a direct correlation between skin and spicy oily food or it’s the mango. Anyway that’s not that big a threat as other severe repercussions of eating junk food and indulging in vices such as smoking, drinking or any abusive substance. Treat body like your temple. It is your true asset in all sense. Do not indulge in anything that harms your body. Personally, I abstain from junk food and do not smoke or drink or consume any red meat. But, if you must then moderation is the key. So, here is a list of things I do consume throughout the course of a week. Dairy, eggs, carrots, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, nuts, legumes, potatoes, tomatoes, lemon, orange, cherry, grapefruit, strawberries, grapes, milk, salmon, whole meal bread, olives, broccoli, brussels sprouts, butter, asparagus, olive oil and avocados.

Apart from the foods what else one can do for a health skin?

EXERCISE!
I think one must exercise at least thrice a week. Make the blood flow and let your body perspire a little bit. Exercise not only rejuvenates your heart and body, but also revives the largest organ in your body, your SKIN! Your skin needs the blood flow and stimulation in order to remain healthy, clean and maintain its elasticity. All the muscles need to be exercised in order to keep your skin looking radiant and beautiful. That’s why any exercise that will stretch and work those muscles will give you the desired healthy skin…cycling, running, surya namaskars and even facial exercises. When you deal with lower body cellulite troubles, squats and lunges are immensely helpful too.

What is your skin care routine?

If I am wearing makeup, I personally use baby oil to remove the makeup gently. Then I use a face wash with oil absorbing clay scrub followed by hot towel treatment and finishing by dabbing little moisturizer. I mindfully use moisturizer to treat the dry areas like forehead, under eyes, cheeks, chin and around lips leaving the T-zone. It is also extremely important to rest as it is to exercise and eat right. So, beauty sleep is must too!!

How do you balance fitness with your films and travels?

I think it’s important to love and appreciate life itself. No matter what you do or where you are. When you have the sense of appreciation you can make time for YOU and for the ones that matter to you. One must find time to appreciate and celebrate the little things that give you joy and fill you up with life. Like enjoying a cup of tea or making your favorite dinner. Spending time with people you love, respect and look up to. It could even be reading a wonderful book or enjoying a beautiful movie. The love that you feel radiates through your skin more than any thing else in the world. That’s why when you look happy people often ask you if you are “in love”? Well one must always feel it. It’s already here. When you feel the love and contentment for what already is, the balance reflects through your skin.
