I am completely Indian & would always call myself an Indian. Yes, London is my home but my roots are in India & that is something I will never forget.

Well I am first a singer & then anything else. I have always had a dream to make it big in my field & Bollywood was just the natural step, especially after my 1st song - Jugniji which became such a big worldwide sensation. Yes I have walked the ramp in Milan but that was because of the close knit relations I have with all of them. I have been invited to the fashion shows in Milan & Paris this year again & if work permits then you will see my on the front rows once again.

My 1st ever recording took some years to happen, even though I was doing shows & other kinds of singing & it was only in 2012 that ‘Jugniji’ was released which was produced by Dr. Zeus. The video created a worldwide buzz & right after that Ekta Kapoor contacted me to sing a scratch for her upcoming film. They liked it so much that they kept my version. That’s how it all began & the rest as they say is history. I’ve had three hits in one year. Every song has been number one on iTunes.

It was surely a huge change but at that time I took it in my stride & took life as it came. Time flew & before I knew I had 3 completely amazing children. It was tough but at a younger age one tends to be more adjusting & then I had a very supporting family too.

Well I haven’t really given it a thought, even though this has been asked & suggested to me earlier. My passion is singing & I have just started making a mark in my field. Once I have reached my goal and then if & when I think there is a role which I would be fine doing, I might consider it.

It’s very hard but I have a lot of support from my family, from my mother, my brother and my ex-husband. As a working mother, honestly I'm going mad. It's very difficult and nobody can understand the emotions that you have to go through when you travel for work and leave your children back home with your mum or ex-husband. It's very difficult. I don't want to complain but I have to admit that when I am travelling and I am alone it's very hard. My children have seen my Slam tour performance and everything I do, I always ask them so they feel they are a part of my work and my life and it works out. My family helps me a lot. I have a lot of support from my guru and from my team. So it's a team effort.

I am a classically trained singer so classical music is the blood that runs in my veins. Classical music has & will always be the base of any kind of singing that I do. Singing peppy numbers also needs you to hold your vocals, so one has to be classically trained and also you will soon hear me singing a lot of classical & sufi songs too.

The cause of the plight of underprivileged children has always been close to my heart. From a very young age I have been exposed to charity work like the one my mother does with her charity called Kalakriti. But children are often the more unfortunate ones & I have always wanted to make a difference in how many young lives I can especially since I have 3 children of my own.

If I can do it, so can anyone. Believe in yourself & your dreams and you will get the energy to fulfil all you desire.
