She is like any ordinary woman living among us. However, it is only once you come to know her, will you find that she is “not just an ordinary woman”.

Over the years while meeting for our young ones to play, I observed that despite spending a hectic day, traveling to work and back home, she astonishingly keeps the ample energy to spend time with her daughter and her academics and is also a homemaker. Well, you may wonder that how she is different from any other woman of today’s time, as most women are a pro with multi-tasking, or whether it is their home or office or marriage.

Outwardly, this young lady may look like any naive woman of this era. However, surprisingly she works as Assistant Manager HR & ADMIN-R&D @ Vadodara- Gujarat, is a dutiful wife, is a loving and responsible mother to an adorable 5-year-old, and is also a persistent marathon runner-winner. I don’t exactly remember the event I met her for the first time. I still try to remember it and faintly guess that may be at Church or on her daughter Aahana’s1st birthday party.

Of late she caught my attention when I came to know of her many wins at the local and state level Marathon events. In an age where people are busy all the time and hardly find the precious ME time, she startles us with her passions for running for almost every marathon, whether it was at Vadodara, or for women, or at Surat, or Jamnagar or even it’s her attempts for running at the one at Juhu. She is not only there at the venue but also keeps winning in these events.

Consequently, my curiosity has pushed me to get to know more of this power-pack lady.

Phew…. Wow….!!!

Even during my childhood, I always participated in Sports at School and College level. I have a bunch of Certificates and Medals which I received during my schooling years. Definitely, this attitude and interest during childhood have hugely increased my passion for running. I am a very organized person, like to live to every commitment, be it personal or professional. I am much focused on my deliverables & try to bring best out of it.

My mother and father have been wonderful parents to me. They have worked hard to provide a stable foundation for my life and future. They have taught me invaluable lessons about work, marriage, parenting, relationships, and life. My parents always motivated me to participate in all events at school & social level which helped me to carry the same level of passion, even today. I have an elder brother who is very studios & hard-working.

My spouse is my mentor. It is his immense support and care which allows me to take up all these challenges. He takes care of Aahana and other responsibilities when I am not around. He is my moral support without which I couldn’t have reached to the level where I am today. My in-laws, do not stay with us, but yes, they too support me a lot.

She is hyper active but is also pleasant. Someone with high energy, even my energy level is not up to her’s. She is understanding and adjusting. She motivates me by chanting “Come on Mamma… Run Fast, or else you will finish last”, when I am running a race… J

As women we are very judgmental – even of ourselves we are self-critic and we tend to carry a lot of baggage. Even in the simple stuff like looking good, dressing appropriately, always seeking external feedback – which is not good! I don’t know why we have to be perfect all the time? Let us be the way we are, it’s never late. If I can follow my dream at 30 then why can’t you? Just be focused on the thing you love & then you will create wonders in it

In order to build a better world, we need to build better equality and diversity in all sector. I work in the social sector and I’m surrounded by female peers who excelled in their careers and are literally changing the world and society’s thinking. I see the biggest gap is women empowerment, that still in many families women are not allowed to take decisions & are back seated. They sacrifice their dream & passion thinking they can only do house chores.

Certainly. It requires a lot of training to participate in an International event. I would be more than happy, to be a part of that event and make my country proud.

First of all it started when I wanted to reduce my weight. Then running became a passion and started winning the events, it became a routine to go an extra mile and do my best, to be a professional runner. These all factors have continuously motivated and inspired me to keep up the passion intact. My parents, family, my colleagues-bosses, and all my beloved friends constantly inspire me to do my best which is a great source of strength for me. Thanks to Almighty for guiding me all the way to this level and for giving me a great family and loving friends.

Every day I dedicate 2 hrs. for workout, 12 hours for work (3 hrs. for travel), & the remaining time for self & family was the biggest challenge, but with the immense support of my family & friends I am managing it well. My office staffs are also very supportive & encouraging.

"The key to balancing work and family is to be present, and focus on what is in front of you—be it a conversation, with your kids or husband or working in an organization, or running a Marathon. I always try to bring out my best for the things I am assigned to; I strive very hard to achieve those. I was told, 'Never say no' and to seize every opportunity since my childhood and that advice has served me well. Take advantage of all opportunities and step out of your comfort zone. I won many titles in last 1 year Vadodara Neo Queen Marathon Relay Marathon, Vadodara B Safal, Ahmedabad Marathon I realized that most of us live a routine life. However, if you want to reach your goals you need to work hard, stay focused and at the same time, you need to maintain a balanced family life. Success never comes without hard work. We are responsible for our own destiny and shape it the way we want to.
