It is a great feeling to have your hard work bear the fruit and be acknowledged by the world. Without recognition and acknowledgement, you feel neglected. So, I am happy that people are interested in my results and want me to do well. Yes, I have won some big medals and a world record and the World No.1 ranking, but my goal is to reach my potential and be the best that I can be. I have improved a lot in the last 2-3 years but I know I still have a lot of improvement to be done. And I am positive that with time and consistent work that I and my team are doing, we will be able to improve my results and win many more medals.

It is an honour and privilege to represent your country and nothing can feel better than to have your National Anthem play in a foreign soil. To have the world stand up and take notice of our achievement is an unparralleled feeling. It only motivates me to work harder and keep the national anthem playing. I am happy I can also be a role model for many young ambitious girls who have it in them to bring laurels for their country and their families. I am also proud to see that India fields so many female athletes who are also very successful. Indian women are strong willed and have it in them to be the best in the world.

I was always fasicnated by guns right since childhood. To have my father and uncle closely associated with guns and shooting sport, it only helped me to pursue the dream seriously and professionally. Being familiar with guns, they were also more comfortable with the idea of their daughter liking guns more than dolls. They always supported me and motivated me to pursue the sport and do well. My father set up a range in the Driveway of our house since there were no good ranges in my hometown and my uncle helped me with tuning my equipment so that my guns always function at the highest level possible. It would have been very difficult had I not received this support at the beginning of my career.

My husband Ronak is himself an international champion and knows the hardwork and sacrifices required to perform at the top. He has sacrificed his own shooting to help me with my performances. Not many partners are as supportive as him. He is my coach, mentor, guide, friend, psychologist, physiotherapist, manager and any and everything that I need. His own experience helps him to understand my situation, problems and difficulties and he has more practical solutions to them since we both have a very similar approach to the sport and its technique. He has been actively training me since 2011 and we are doing great as a team. He understands me better than anybody and that is what also helps him to get the best out of me as a coach.

Since this year is packed with Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Asian Games and four World Cups and then World Cup finals, a typical day would be waking up at 7, training from 9-12 then lunch and rest, then mental training from 5-6, physical training 6-7, dinner at 8-8.30 and sleep at 10.30-11 latest… But I am a voracious reader and in constant search for knowledge. I am a qualified Dentist apart from being an elite sportswoman and want to pursue higher studies. I love music and painting and hope to be able to find enough time to pursue my hobbies.

I believe women are emotionally strong, better willed, more disciplined and dedicated. We have abundant talent and enough opportunities today to show our possibilities to the world. Have faith in yourself and go take that first step. If I could, so can you.
