Veda Raheja Defines Her Design Sensibility!

Although she made her debut into the fashion industry last year in the Lakme Fashion Week with her exclusive Spring-Summer Collection – 2014, she has been successful in making her mark with her designs. In this quick yet memorable interview, Veda talks about her life, her career and her inspiration.

    For as long as I can remember, I wanted to do something in the field of design. It was only after going to watch my first fashion show at the age of 14 that I discovered that this is something I could do.

    ‘Tri – Faceted’ is a collection of evening dresses and separates inspired by the geometric lines & architecture of the famed self taught Japanese Architect Tadao Ando. It is commonly said that Ando’s architectural style creates a haiku effect, emphasizing nothingness and empty space to represent the beauty of simplicity and I took on the task of translating some of those ideas into designing accouterments.

    It can be anything that stimulates an idea out of me. I usually respond to various forms of art and architecture. I also look at texture a lot – man made and natural. From these, I try to find new ways of replicating them into my work.
