Mirzya

After showering their wishes and praises over the debutant Harshvardhan Kapoor, Bollywood has now rested to watch MIrzya release today. The story based on popular Mirzya-Sahibaan folklore is known to all; however here it’s Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, how he frames and delivers is what every eye and ear is looking forward to.

Mirzya, an Indian version of Shakespeare’s Romeo-Juliet saga is more than verses and prose, is a screenplay written by Gulzar! Divided into two eras this movie is a period drama that goes back and for into the love and struggles of Suchi (Saiyami Kher) and Aadil-Monish (Harshvardhan Kapoor) urf Mirzya -Sahibaan in another era. An era where once Mirzya on a horse seen shooting arrows to win Sahiban by competing her dominant brother; while in other era Adil, a horse riding trainer was once a very good childhood friend to Suchi in school, until a fearsome tragedies keep them apart.

Years later she is back to India only to fall in love with her childhood friend, while she is already committed to the Prince Karan (Anuj Choudhary). A Love rekindle, a well depicted and entangled love prose, a lost and yet not giving up father and the sudden transition of Anuj as a loving fiance to a grey character of villain is something to look forward into. However, will the long lost love of Suchi and Adil be heard? Will the Mirzya- Sahiban love will get a tear in your eye, it seeks some answers here!

Music of Shankar-Ehsaan Loy, words of Gulzar,  well oiled bodies and slow motions in frames is well articulated by the director of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rang de Basanti and with least dialogues, more expressions the movie has done its bits, yet failed to ignite the pain in audience for the love of popular Punjabi duo.

Though Mirzya is a poetic flick that would make you fall in love with Gulzar’s words over and over again, it fails to pull the audience strings, though it is an visually aesthetic art, it fails to ignite that love, misery and pain in audience’s heart. Go for it for sure if you are a fan of Poetry, Music and of course the visuals!
