The Nirbhaya Gang Rape Case – Rapist Blames The Girl For Her Rape

It’s been three years as of now since the horrifying Delhi gang rape case took place. The news spread like fire with a feel of insecurity and anger in the eyes of every woman. People at large supported the fight against the rapists protesting the judiciary to take action against the Rapists. But, after these years, not much seems to have changed in the society. Instead, it is apt to say that Rapists now dare to blame the woman for her rape. If she wears decent clothes, she still invites men towards her. IF she fights back for her life and dignity she is beaten and raped to death. So, how much has changed since the Delhi Rape Case?

The Indian culture defines of all the finest cultures of all ages, but still those veil practices make it contradictory statement in itself. The “Nirbhaya” gang rape case gave a direction of hope to all the women of the society to open up their grief and anger toward the society.

In an interview Mukesh Singh (one of the rapists) mentioned that not just the men of the society should be blamed for rape. Women are equally responsible for being raped. He said that “A girl is far more responsible than a boy”. He further added that “She must have just allowed them to rape her & then they would drop off after “doing it”, and only hit the boy.” Does this mean that women who are innocent would encounter such horrifying act by keeping quiet?

Mukesh (who is a slum dweller & a Rapist) further adds that “you cannot clap with one hand rather its two hands.” She was equally responsible. According to his views “A decent girl will not roam till 9 pm at night with her boyfriend. She was wearing wrong clothes, at wrong time and wrong place. House keeping is the work of a woman. She is not supposed to roam out in the night and go to the bars and disco. He further adds that only 20% of the girls fall under the standard of good girls out of all.

AP Singh (A Lawyer) said that “If my Sister or daughter takes part in such pre-marital activities and disgrace herself and loose her character by engaging in such unethical activities, I would take such sisters and daughters to their farmhouse and burn them off by putting petrol in front of the whole family.”

Really? Are we still talking of an India in the 21st Century? The question here lies in the perception of the male gender. How can they question our question which disturbs the dignity of being a female? Are we still fighting being ‘Another Nirbhaya’ to save ourself from the old norms of the society? The Daughter & Sisters are brutally raped and killed. There are many instances of such that are not being showcased in public. The women of the nation certainly have a strong urge to gratify the need of being protected by the men and society. Its Time We Women Take A Stand and Change this thought of the Indian Men. I hope, they are reading this!!!
