Prepared For The Monsoon Showers? Hair Care Tips For You!

So it’s that time of the year again! It’s Monsoon!!  Not one of my favorite seasons, honestly. Other than being wet, mucky & dirty, the rains are no good for the hair. Hair tends to get frizzy, dry, limp, and oily. The scalp also gets very itchy and dry. Hence the monsoons are not ideal for hair’s health. However, you need not fear as here are some very simple tips to maintain your beloved hair during monsoon.

frizzy hair

Frizzy Hair

Due to the humidity, hair tends to frizz more during this season. It is advisable to use a serum or a moisturizing lotion to combat this unwanted frizz. Every time hair gets wet in the rains we tend to just towel dry them. This makes hair brittle, causes breakage and leads to frizz.  Hence it is advisable to wash your hair with a good, shampoo & conditioner. A serum is your best friend during this season to reduce frizzy hair.

Dandruff

Dandruff

Dandruff tends to increase during the monsoons. A good home remedy would be to use any hair oil, heated for a bit with the juice of half a lemon. Massage it on the scalp while it’s warm. Hair oil takes care of dryness and the lemon tends to absorb the extra oil produced by your scalp. Leave it on for half an hour and then shampoo and condition your hair. Using a good anti-dandruff shampoo, menthol based shampoos are also advisable.

Woman hair shampoo

Oily Hair

Humidity during this season make our hair oily and sticky. This makes hair limp and dirty. One should use a shampoo that is specifically made for oily hair. It should be a mild one, so that you can shampoo often. Massage scalp till it feels clean, then rinse thoroughly.

A great remedy for oily scalp would be Aloe Vera Gel. Aloe is a miracle plant, as we all know and it does wonders for oily scalp. It not only leaves scalp oil-free but also adds shine and strength to hair. Take a cup of mild shampoo; add lemon juice to it and a tea spoon of Aloe Vera gel. Trust me it will work wonders and you should thank my mom for this tip as this is her secret for her gorgeous hair.

hair fall

Hair Fall

Hair tends to fall a lot during rainy seasons. Since wet hair tends to be brittle, breakage happens faster. One should use a shampoo and conditioner for hair loss. Also avoid tying hair when it’s wet. If you must, then use a wide tooth comb or comb hair in the shower after applying conditioner. If you need to use a brush then wait till your hair is completely dry. A good way to avoid hair fall is to use fenugreek/methi seeds .Soak them over night, make a paste and apply to hair. Leave it on for 45 minutes and then shampoo and condition.

Try and avoid blow drying, straightening, and toning hair. Keep hair away from your neck by tying nice trendy plaits or making a fashionable bun. These are all very much en vogue.

And yes do not forget to eat healthy! Amla, eggs, curd, fish, almonds, spinach are all good for you and your hair. Remember ‘Love is in the Hair’!
