Badlapur – Review

There is an African Saying that “An Axe Forgets, But The Trees Remember”. This is how the director Sriram Raghvan gives a start to a revengeful crime drama. This neo-noie Indian crime drama has got many unwanted scenes in the pictures but overall, the movie manages to grip the interest of the audience. Varun Dhavan as Raghu plays his role with perfection. His improvised look from a boy next door to an angry young man is really acknowledgeable. For a moment, it gets difficult to correlate him from his previous movies like Student Of The Year and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Layak steals the show for sure. As always, his acting is flawless and holds good impact. Yami Gautam & Huma Qureshi, perform their roles in a decent manner. Actor Vinay Pathak and Radhika Apte have small roles but are simply remarkable.

During the promos of the film the star cast tells the audience “Not to miss the Beginning”. Unlike other crime thrillers this story is not something new. But the Camera angles and the editing effects holds the grip of the audience. The director has made this simple tale interesting and impressive. So Yes… It is a Must Watch.

For all the good direction, poignant scripting and brilliant performances, I give Badlapur 3 stars.
