Boss – Review

Story

Satyakanth Shastri (Mithun) is a sanskari father who adores his younger son and disowns the elder son due to his behavior. The family parts their way and the short-tempered elder boy soon grows up to become Boss (Akshay Kumar) who is a contract killer, with cheesy dialogues and great action stunts. So, do they unite again?

Review

The movie is entirely about Akshay Kumar and his stunts. Boss is a Kick-ass entertainer with Akshay Kumar jumping and fighting all around. In this movie, he proves yet again that he is the Best Bollywood Action hero. So, if you just rephrase the movie’s punch line (Apne ko kya he, Apne ko to bas paani nikalna hain), you should rather say it, ‘Apne ko to bas Akshay ka stunts dekhna he’.

The movie is a remake of the Malyalum film Pokkiri Raja (2010) and has truckload of stunt scenes and cheeky comedy dialogues to tickle your stomach. It is only a melodramatic action film with not much logic and story in it as a result of which you will see most characters being silent once Boss Akshay makes the entry.

The romantic storyline between Aditi Rao and Shiv Pandit is completely negligible. The vicious ACP named as Ayushman Thakur (Ronit Roy) gets easily outplayed by our Haryanvi Boss.

In simple words, the entire movie relies entirely on Akshay’s acting and stunts. The dialoguebaazi may make you smile a little, but the stunts will surely make you miss a heartbeat. Akshay is like this Desi Spiderman jumping the walls, roofs and trucks. However, the one scene that is really worth applause is the chase that seems to have been filmed in just 1 take.

The sound effect is splendid! You will hear every punch, cracking of bones and crunching of Chanas clearly. The acting of all the characters, particularly Mithun, Akshay and Ronit is good. Sadly, Ronit despite is brilliant acting, gets very less footage and Shiv Pandit and Aditi Rao are no more than props in the movie.
