Dil Dhadakne Do

Dil Dhadakne Do, very much alike Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, is a story of a journey that changes one’s perspective towards life. Anyhow, it fails to impress just as much. It misses out on the impact it should make and is sadly not as lip-smacking as I had expected.

The movie revolves around the Mehra family and tries to portray the problems of the rich. It speaks about the hypocrisy that runs through the class and the fact that even the rich have to struggle to “make ends meet” in their own way with their own share of ends. Troubled relationships, failing business, business politics to rule personal relationships, a fair share of gossip with a touch of “Women in India” – the movie has it all. But sadly, all of it comes together to be fairly stretchy and in parts boring.

All the actors have payed their parts really well. The humour is enjoyable and you would hope that there would have been more of it. The music is toe-tapping and fairly enjoyable – not extremely impressive to me though. The visual treatment of the movie is lovely and wants to make you feel a part of the cruise too. The narration and the perspective of the narrative is very interesting and something that would pleasantly surprise you. Observations on life and human behaviour are beautifully portrayed and may get you thinking.

With all these upsides of the movie, the movie sadly does not make an impact because of it length and also probably the hope to see a little more of the lighter side of things (in my opinion). It is a movie you could skip, but watching the movie won’t give you nightmares for sure.
