Story
Based on the true story of one of India’s finest boxing personas, Mary Kom or also known as Magnificent Mary, the movie is all about her struggles and fight to achieve her dream of becoming the best boxer. The story shows how Mary crosses all her hurdles and makes it to the ring, winning India recognition in the Women’s boxing ground.

Boxing and Bollywood hand in hand! This is not the first film based on Boxing. There have been previous films including Apne (Deol family) which focused on the sport of Boxing. However, this is the first movie ever based on a female boxer, Mary Kom.

The movie is surely one of the finest made sports based films, however not exceeding the par set by Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The film shows how a simple girl from Manipur, loves boxing and decides to learn it against all odds. Not for a minute, will you see the story drift away from the reality. However, there is a something that doesn’t seem right about the story. Director Omung Kumar fails to put soul into the story. Afterall, the story is about Mary Kom, a legendary boxer who has won a worldchampionship.

Coming to Performances, Priyanka has done an absolutely fantabulous job. She gets into the character skin deep and delivers her best in these many years. You can see her effort not just in her acting, but also the way she has carved her lean Supermodel body into that of an athlete. Sunil Thapa and Darshan Kumar also do justice to their roles.

The music is unnecessary and doesn’t fit the storyline well. Above all its plus and minuses, the film is surely worth a watch, but falls short in doing justice to the achievements of Mary Kom.
