Phantom

I have loved Saif Ali Khan In Cocktail, Love Aaj Kal and every other film where he plays the cool guy. But when you see Phantom, you actually start feeling the other way round.

With all the hype created for the movie… the 26/11 attacks, RAW, ISIS, etc. I thought the movie would be really interesting, especially with the recent Bollywood concepts that have won the hearts of all viewers. Whether it was Gabbar or Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan! But sadly, Phantom is none and drastically fails to make its presence felt.

In a single Line…The Movie is Downright Boring… With Saif trying his best to keep that serious spy look and Katrina, well I have no words for her. She is just a Glam Doll, with no expressions at all.

The story of the movie is simple… Revenge! Revenge against any person who has attacked India. And for this purpose, they have chosen Daniyal (Saif) a court martialled army guy who wants to get back his name cleared. All through the 147 minutes of the film, Saif sticks to his one and only expression, killing bad men. Katrina, playing the role of Nawaz, apart from her pretty face fails to add anything to movie.

Director Kabir Khan seems to be in love with World Tours. Like Ek Tha Tiger (which obviously had Salman to cash the box-office), the movie takes you to a world tour from Mumbai, Kashmir, London, Beirut, Chicago and Pakistan. The story, if it was woven carefully, could have done wonders to the film. The casting, if it was better, could have helped the movie earn some money in the Box-office. But sadly, none of it was induced in the film. All I could see in the theater was a restless audience who wanted to creep out of the movie. For me, Phantom is not something I will like watching.
