welcome 2 karachi

Welcome 2 Karachi

Let me get straight to the point, the technical aspects of the movie are below average. The lip sync of Lauren, CGI effects, cinematography, editing, etcetera all these seem to have been done by an amateur. The plot is insignificant, puns are stupid and moronic. There is nothing in this movie that makes it a great or even a good movie. It is bollywood’s imitation of dumb and dumber. However, Jackky & Arshad’s acting and the dialogues successfully makes it what the director had indented to make, a light hearted, slapstick comedy, giving no burden to the brains of viewers. There are few scenes that have no reason to be in the movie but still manage to give a good laugh. Like the firing near Indian consulate makes no sense but the video gamey effect to that is unusual & refreshing for an Indian movie.

The Plot revolves around Kedar (Jackky) & Shammi Thakur (Arshad). Kedar’s only dream is to settle in USA, despite been rejected for visa multiple times. His friend Shammi, an deposed navy man promises to take Kedar to his dreamland via boat. The two grown numbnuts venture out and accidentally land up in Karachi, Pakistan. What follows is a confused, stupid and most of the times doltish series of events that gets both dumb wits in & out of trouble. The movie is a see saw of foolish and yet at times witty incidents that both of them endure in the not so foreign land of Pakistan. The story has no consequence and leads nowhere.

This movie is not made for people who watch movies to gain something from it. If you are someone who appreciate and indulge in clunk comedy only then you should pay for such a debacle. I for one would like to be honest here and agree and admit that I really enjoyed the movie as an individual, thanks to my affection for such brainless comic motion picture but as a critic will not be able to award it more than 2 stars.
