The Second Mumbai Women’s International Film festival is soon to commence from the 6th to 13th of December, 2014. There have been 457 film entries so far from over 126 cities of 62 countries. Renowned filmmakers judging the movies are, Devika Bhagat, Deepa Bhatia, Nupur Asthana, and France film maker, Olivier Delahaye. Hosted by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and organized by Occulus Creations, the Second Mumbai Women’s International Film Festival is all ready to commence from the 6th of Dec to 13 Dec 2014. The Festival, which is just two years old has already started growing and getting famous across the globe. This year, the festival will judge almost 457 films coming from 126 cities of 62 countries. The number is comparatively much higher than that received last year. This clearly depicts the increase in the women ratio in the film industry. According to Chintan Kuvadia, the programming director of MWIFF, the level of creativity and innovation has also been enriched with time.
The festival will commence with its traditional Pink Carpet Opening and then followed by an array of International Films seminars, Masterclass, screening and the closing Ceremony. The screening of 152 films from a total of 457 films will be held at the Liberty cinema, Marine Lines, Carnival Cinema Borivali, Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi and PL Deshande Kala Academy.
The list of talented filmmakers who have been included into the jury panel are: Devika Bhagat (writer of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl), Deepa Bhatia (Editor of My Name is Khan), Nupur Asthana (Director of Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge), Manisha Korde (writer Bhool Bhulaiya) and Ad film maker, Shivendra Dungarpur. Additionally, the jury panel also has France Filmmaker Olivier Delahaye (Director of films Nothing But The Truth, The Wooden Camera, etc.)
The festival will also be hosting a Music concert in association with the Mtv Indies, on the 12th of December at the Liberty Cinema, Marine Lines. The concert will have independent artists, bands and musicians playing their heart out to the public. The schedule of the MWIFF is now available at (www.mwiff.com).
