Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast

  • 12 slices ( cut into 1” cubes) divided
  • 8 oz (cut into 1” cubes)
  • 1½ cups

For sauce
  • 1 cup
  • 1 cup
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 cup
  • 1 Tbsp
Method of Preparation
  • Generously grease a 9x13” baking dish.
  • Arrange half the bread pieces in the prepared baking dish.
  • Distribute cream cheese cubes evenly over the bread cube layer.
  • Sprinkle 1½ cups sliced strawberries on top of the cheese layer.
  • Make another layer of bread cubes over the strawberry layer.
  • Pour half- and-half into a blender and pulse for a few seconds.
  • Blend eggs into half- and- half until fully incorporated.
  • Add maple syrup and blend until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture evenly over the bread.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
  • Remove baking dish from refrigerator 45 minutes before baking.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Bake the covered casserole in oven for 30 min.
  • Remove aluminum foil and continue baking until French toast is puffed and golden brown, about 30 more minutes.
To prepare sauce
  • In a small saucepan stir sugar, water and cornstarch together.
  • Cook stirring occasionally, over medium heat until mixture has thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Mix 1 cup strawberries into the sugar mixture cook and stir until strawberries have softened, about 10 minutes.
  • Add butter and stir sauce until butter has melted.
