Vidya Balan – Success Story revealed

As kids, we all get inspired by our role models and aspire to become like them. The story of Vidya Balan is not very much different than ours.

Grown up watching the movies of Shabana Azmi and Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan aspired to become an actress at a very young age. But, was achieving success that very easy? No! A person with lesser spirit would have surely given up on the dream of becoming an actress if he had to face the same roadblocks she experienced on her way to becoming a successful actress in the Film Industry. With her first serial failing to air on the television and her first film being shelved after getting rejected from 25 films, it took Vidya Balan a lot of determination to keep on the struggle to achieve her dream. Today, after toppling all heroes and reducing them to a supporting role in the Male Dominated Film Industry, she stands at a height no other actresses of her age have reached.

May it be the quiet, introvert and simple dressed Sabrina Lal in No One Killed Jessica (2011) or the bold, naughty and meagerly dressed Silk in The Dirty Picture (2011) or Vidya Baghchi in the film Kahaani (2012), Vidya Balan transforms herself into each role perfectly, living it and proving that no one can do the role better than her.

Before trying her luck in the Film industry, Vidya Balan made her debut in Hum Paanch as a bespectacled teenager named Radhika. The show was a hit and a favorite of people in every house. Soon, she was offered yet another role in television soap by director Anurag Basu, but Vidya rejected the offer as she wanted to establish herself as a film actress and not a TV artist.

In the year 2003, Vidya Balan made her first feature film debut in a Bengali film named Bhalo Theko for which she also won the Anadalok Purashkar for Best Actress in the Bengali film Awards. Then after, she focused on the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. Instantly she got cast as the female lead against actor Mohanlal in a movie named Chakram. But, due to production issues, the movie got shelved, a condition very rarely heard in the south. After this, Vidya Balan was blamed for bringing Bad Luck to the movie. Soon she was replaced from all her other movies and was labeled “jinxed” in the industry. She swore of never returning back to the Tamil and Malayalam film Industry.

Bollywood Debut

Vidya’s role in Bhalo Theko fetched attention of directors in Bollywood. In the year 2005, she was selected for the lead role of Lalita by director Pradeep Sarkar for his movie Parineeta. Her acting was highly praised by the critics and viewers. She received the Best Female Debut Award at the FilmFare Awards and also got nominated for Best Actress award. After this, there was no looking back for Vidya Balan. She got new projects and was seen opposite Sanjay Dutt in the movie Lage Raho Munnabhai as Jhanvi a famous Radio Jockey. In order to prepare for the role, Vidya met several Radio Jockeys and watched them work in their radio stations.

Successful Bollywood Heroine

With every movie, Vidya grew stronger as an actor. She worked with renowned directors and actors like Mani Ratnam’s Guru (Mithun Chakroborty, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and R Madhavan), Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-e-Ishq (John Abraham), Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya (Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan) and many more.
