Who Am I – A Question We Need To Ask Ourselves Everyday!

You may be an advocate, doctor, engineer, businessman, entrepreneur or any professional! But are you human enough to raise your voice against Injustice? Who Am I, is a question we need to ask and answer ourselves everyday! It is a question for our souls, a question that will keep us attached to the voice of our spirit.

After the Delhi Gangrape case or better known as the Damini Rape case in December 2012, we saw the nation unite together to fight against injustice. Amidst this revolutionary period, a young boy dared to raise his voice, and make sure he made a change in the society. Himanshu Singh Gujjar and his team at the SDM Institute of Management decided to create a short educational film that would open the eyes of every person who sees it. The motive was simple: Ignite the fire in the hearts of people to change the society.

The film was set based on the pain and thoughts of Damini’s mother and was backed by a female voice narrating the different stories of how a woman is deprived of her rights, scrutinized by people and how her feelings are killed in this world of Patriarchy. This short film was made when people flooded the streets of Delhi to fight for Damini. But with the passing days, the rage melted down and nothing was changed in the society. On the contrary, this short film won the BoroPlus All India Short-Film Making Contest and also received more than 16,000 likes on YouTube, one of the most widely used video libraries. However for Himanshu, his real achievement was the attention he fetched with the video and the way people reacted to it.

Today, everyone who sees the video will ask their conscience if they have done their bit to fight against any injustice done on women. Ask yourself, who Am I and do your bit for the society.
