Nidhi Yadav is one of those inspirational designers turned businesswoman who strikes an excellent balance between family and professional life. Her marriage didn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams and her designer label AKS transit the attitude and confidence – Powerful Fusion Dressing.
Nidhi Yadav studied many fashion apparel brands like Zara and H&M during the fashion designing course in Italy. Influenced by their success stories, she was determined to transform her creative skills into business strengths. Her foresight has also helped here to view untapped business opportunities in the e-commerce sector. Blessed with a creative bent of mind and sharp business acumen, she decided to embark on the fashion world with an ethnic fusion brand – AKS.With a seed capital of only 3.5 lakhs, a small warehouse of less than a thousand units, and the responsibility of a 7-month-old baby were some of the toughest challenges before Nidhi Yadav while establishing the AKS in May 2014.
AKS is a women-centric organisation, and women empowerment is the part of organisation’s value system. Women entrepreneurs run nearly 50 percent outsourcing firms which work for AKS. It has already developed a special unit for women so they can get better employment. The headquarter is located in the Millennium City of India, Gurgaon, and has an integrated network of printing, dyeing, stitching and manufacturing units in the Pink City, Jaipur.
A team of high calibre people is the strength of Nidhi Yadav led fashion start-up whichis in the process of continuous quality development to keep on delighting its customers.AKS takes maximum 8hrs for creating the sample product. The brand has already crossed the breakeven and company’s balance sheet completes in black. Impressed by the last year’s performance, Nidhi has planned a projected growth of 150 percent for the current fiscal year. Her next goal is to make AKS a complete women store in contemporary styles and to accomplish this mission she is all set to enhance brand’s market penetration via MBOs and Franchisees. In-house manufacturing is also a top priority of Nidhi Yadav amongst her future strategies.
Though AKS was launched in 2014 and at that time Nidhi was just 26 years old, the seed of fast fashion was sown into Nidhi’s mind when she was studying in Italy and was deliberateto bid goodbye to the job she was offering that time after marriage. Nidhi was desperately looking for time and freedom to shape her dreams. Marriage brings many beautiful surprises for her and AKS was one of them. Nidhi claims, “AKS is not a premature idea, it is very much calculated, research-driven, and well-thought concept.”
AKS is growing consistently. Today, 25 employees are on the payroll, and more than 250 tailors and workers are associated with the company through partners. Under the brand AKS, which is targeted to all young ladies/girls from 18 to 35 years of age, students and working women, it offers a vast range of ethnic women’s wear, including range Kurta/Kurtis, Palazzo, Ethnic Sets, Anarkalis, Leggings, and Mojri (traditional footwear). To scale up an online customer base and increasing offline penetration via shop-in-shop and B2B business modules, AKS is working on aggressive expansion plans of its own and in association with Myntra, the online promoter.
