Elections 2014 – Women Voters to Play Crucial Role

As the country prepares itself for the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections, women voters are believed to play the most crucial role in deciding the outcome. Polls, that start from April 7th will decide which political party will come into power and aid the country during its most sensitive times.

According to surveys, the difference between male and female voters has been steadily increasing since 1962. It was almost same in the 2009 parliamentary elections. The analysis showed that almost 16 out of a total 20 states which went for polls after 2010, had higher women voters as compared to men. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, two most important states of India had more women voters in 2010. Moreover, out of the total 545 parliamentary seats, 120 seats belong to these two states. As a result, the votes of women from these two states will play a very important role.

The Lok Sabha elections of 2014 will be extremely interesting, especially due to innumerable political scams that have been uncovered by committees in the recent times. The unpopular Congress Party led by Rahul Gandhi will fight against the Hindu Nationalist Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), who have named 3 times Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as their PM candidate. Apart from these two major parties, the newly formed and also called the most dramatic political party Aam Admi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal will also stand for the elections.

With these options available, it is now entirely dependent on the votes of Indian women who work almost 21 times more than all average men in home and workplace, as to who and which party will form a government at the Central.
