India Loses Its First Master Chef

The first Master Chef of India – Tarla Dalal passed away today early morning. Tarla Dalal was in her late 70s, died at 7 am due to a heart attack in her South Mumbai residence. The news was broken on Twitter by an industrialist from Ahmedabad. Mumbai newspaper confirmed it around 2 pm.

Tarla Dalal wrote over 100 cook books. More than 3 million copies are sold. She was also known for her cookery show “The Tarla Dalal Show”. Her work is acknowledged and was awarded with Padma Shree Award in 2007. She started her cooking classes in 1966 and later on wrote her first cook book in 1974. The book was an instant hit, and then there was no looking back for her. She served the nation for over 40 years with delicious recipes.

The new and unpredictable taste was given to the Indian kitchen by her. Before that the food was very predictable. She got the whole nation together through the food. No longer the south Indian only cooked south Indian or north Indian cooked only north Indian. Her website tarladalal.com has over 15,000 recipes.

“We would like to thank all of you for your support and affection through the years of Mrs. Tarla Dalal’s career. She is no more with us as she expired in the early hours of this morning. We thank her for all the happiness that her talent has given to us and our families,” was posted on her Facebook page by her team.
