Justice Served: Culprits of Gang-Rape Sentenced to Death

Just Served Late, But Served Right! The four accused of New Delhi gang-rape of 23 year old girl on Dec 16, 2013 are finally sentenced DEATH. It has been nine months since the incident and with so much pressure on system and government the 23-year old girl child, who was also a student was gang-raped and tortured to death, finally got her justice.

Judge of Delhi High Court Yogesh Khanna said the girl was “tortured till the very end” further saying that the case became the “rarest of rare category”, therefore capital punishment is true justice. “In these times when crimes against women are on the rise, court cannot turn a blind eye to this gruesome act,” he added.

“We are happy. Justice has been delivered,” said the victim’s father while her mother and sibling were standing besides with tears in their eyes.

AP Singh who was the defence lawyer of this case said that the judgement made is not justice, but due to public and political pressure. Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde rejected Singh’s claim saying that the justice has been served for the victim, the student, and their family.

AP Singh should think that the case not just involves gang-rape charges but the victim is no more alive and so shouldn’t she get the right and true justice? It is high time we all should realize that law is made for peace and system, not to prevent the culprits from getting punished.

Actually, this sad incident was carried out by 6 men. Of which one committed suicide, one was teen and is sentenced 3 years of imprisonment by juvenile court, and so the sentence stands for the remaining 4 accused. Be this justice a mark for others, so that they are forced to think about the worst before committing such a shameful act. WomenPlanet thanks the Judiciary System and Public for such support and standing against the wrongs. With this justice we see a hope of safe and better future for women in India.
