An interview with the real hero. The person who cycles for a cause.

Q. Tell us something about your experience on the journey for cause.

A. Experience on travel was indeed great! I was rolling myself on Indian roads for a cause which I really value personally.

Q. What inspired you to do something unique like this?

A. I saw a lot of people cursing a girl child and if a girl child was born to them, they didn’t educate the girls in their family. This injustice inspired me to go for the cause and spread awareness about it across India. Experience on cause “Save Girl Child and Education” was touchy and tricky. You have to be very careful before you start talking about it as it is very sensitive. I got mixed feedback and sometime rejections too. But overall, people do agree that yes this is one of the most important topics and every girl must be educated.

Q. How do you manage your expenses?

A. Complete trip was self sponsored. It’s really not easy to find sponsors in India for a common person like me. I couldn’t fit with any business proposal for the corporate world to get deals from customers. When I was talking to NGOs, reply was how much money you can donate? When I’m on a self funded trip, what fund can I give them!

Q. What kind of support you are looking for from India?

A. The only support I am looking from the people of India is that they should understand the importance of a Girl in our society and Educate Girl Child.

Q. Share something about your coming plans!

A. There are a few more ideas I’m working on and mostly, I will be on road again in a week to 10 days time. I’m serious to explore Ladakh in winter for almost a decade. So, I will be spending Jan – Feb 2014 in Ladakh.

Q. What is your message for our visitors at Women Planet?

A. Don’t neglect the importance of educating a girl child. As rightly said, “You educate a boy, you educate one person. But if you educate a girl, you educate a family.” There is a beautiful world outside internet; explore it as and when you get the chance.
