Kaipppo Chhee!!!
Colorful kites flying in the blue sky, rooftops covered with young kids and adults, people holding their phirkee’s with finely sharpened threads, kids shouting and dancing to the new tunes and the noise of whistles start our day on Makar Sankranti! But amidst this fun and thrill of Uttarayan, what we forget is the plight of birds and animals who suffer the most on this festive day!
Barred from flying freely in the open sky and the fear of getting injured with the sharp threads, birds and animals suffer a lot on Uttarayan. But, what hurts most is when we see these birds get injured and people turning their heads only to enjoy the festival without any hesitation. There are many who wish to help these animals and birds, but are unaware of whom to contact and how to care the animals.
