Women safety is one of the most important concerns of the country today. With the crime against women and young girls at a constant rise, safety is only a word read in the dictionary, with no meaning in the real world. You cannot move around with bodyguards for 24X7 protection, nor can you stay at home for life. In these conditions, the only way to protect one’s life is by taking security in your own hands.

Here are some tips and suggestions on how to be safe during the everyday awkward situations faced.

1. If you are alone in the company of a strange male while entering a lift at night

Advice: Do enter the lift and press all the buttons of the lift up to your destination. For example, if you need to go on 12th floor, then press all buttons.

2. If a burglar breaks into your house when you are alone

Advice: You surely know where the chilli powder & turmeric are kept. Also, you know where knives, plates and other utensils are placed. If nothing works, then start throwing these things at him. It will create a noise and make him scared as he doesn’t want to be caught.

3. Traveling in auto or taxi at night

Advice: Note down the registration number of the vehicle. Call up your family or friends and tell them the details in the language that the driver understands. If no one picks up your call, then pretend a fake conversation. This makes the driver aware that someone has all the details and if he messes up something, then he will be in trouble. So, he is now surely bound to drop you home safe.

4. When driver suddenly turns to an unknown street and you feel it to be a danger zone

Advice: Wrap his neck with the straps of your purse or with your dupatta and pull him back firmly. This will make him feel choked and helpless too. If you don’t have purse or dupatta, in that case grab and pull his collar back.

5. If you are being stalked at night

Advice: Quickly enter a shop or any house and explain your situation. If shops are closed during night, enter any ATM box as they are always guarded by a security and have a CCTV camera. No one will dare to attack in such case.
