Saudi Writer criticizes Women saying ‘Harass Working Women’ on Twitter

A controversial tweet from an author of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah Mohamed al-Dawood, is currently trending on the micro-blogging website, Twitter to his 98,000+ followers. He sent a tweet in Arabic language using the hashtag. The translation of the controversial tweet send on Sunday is “#harass_female_cashiers.”

After creating the ire amongst women, the author now says that his words were misinterpreted. He further blames the newspapers and the websites for publishing the false news without knowing the truth in it.

The Saudi Arabian author said in a statement that, “It was quite easy for them to contact Al-Dawood for a statement to clarify the news but they did not. Anyone who follows Al-Dawood on Twitter, reads his articles, or watches his programs will easily ascertain that he has always called for protecting the modesty of women and the rights of female workers.”

His tweet:

Getting lots of “interaction in the trending of #femalecashiers #harassfemalecashiers This a link to a master’s degree thesis that considers the job of the female receptionist and cashier to be human trafficking.”

A BBC report says that al-Dawood had an argument with the female cashier who was getting exploited to make money.

However, his comments have generated a huge spark on the social media as people all over the world voice their opposition against this.
