Death of innocence yet again in Delhi! The death penalty of 4 convicts in the December 16th gangrape case and the new law for protecting women has failed to change the mentality of Delhi men.
In a recent incident, a 17 year old girl was gang raped by 3 men she believed she could trust. The incident occurred in the Safdarjung Enclave area (South Delhi) on Tuesday. However, the incident caught attention after an FIR was registered on Wednesday.
According to the police officials, the victim, a resident of Humayurpur village was gang raped by her own neighbors, all in their early 20s. According to the statement recorded by the police, one of the neighbors asked the victim for a long drive to which she agreed. Soon, as they reached a certain decided place, two other friends of the neighbor joined them in the car. She was offered a soft drink with sedatives after which the victim went dizzy. The accused neighbor drove the car into an isolated parking area in the Pilanji village and raped the victim turn after turn. She was then dumped near her house while the accused fled.
Studying in a south Delhi Private school, the victim was too scared to share the malevolent incident with her parents. But, after being consoled to tell the truth, she narrated the entire story to her parents after which an FIR was lodged by the victim’s father under the Indian Penal Code at the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station.
Based on the complaint a medical examination was performed in a nearby government hospital to examine the victim which confirmed the gangrape.
The accused, Rohit, Narender and Tinku are missing, while the car used for the crime has been successfully seized by the police. The victim has also provided some crucial information about the hideouts of the accused. Further investigation about the case is underway.
