We love to explore various cultures and references throughout the world. Our last collection AW14 was inspired by the magnificent costumes of the Spanish Matadors and we added an unexpected twist to it by infusing traditional Spanish embroideries with Playing Cards suit patterns like Hearts, Clubs and Spades. In the past we have done collections inspired by the Samurai (Autumn of the Samurai, AW10), Wycinanki AW11 (Inspired form the colourful art of paper cutting in Poland).The Polish embassy rewarded us with a trip to Poland after they saw our collection Wycinanki We love to infuse unusual & unexpected inspirations in our collections like Music Box (AW12) was inspired by the fascinating forms of musical instruments like trumpets, guitars, ukuleles and mandolins.

Our pieces are statement pieces and will definitely make you stand apart from the crowd. A woman who is confident and elegant will look great in our pieces. Our clothes also tell stories of faraway lands, forgotten crafts and meticulous workmanship. Someone who values things that are handmade can truly value our creations.

We love to work on fabrics like Silks, Heavy Knits, Heavy Satins, Cotton Satin, Cotton-Silk, even Leather. We like to create sculptural textural marvels in flattering silhouettes and these are the fabrics that best do justice to our craft and workmanship.

It has to be our very first pieces that were ever stitched under our label. In fact we didn’t even have our labels ready as yet since we had just started with one tailor and we got a Project to design for A. R. Rahman for the Worldspace Radio ads. We somehow got the labels done and our first few pieces were for him. We have the utmost respect for him and we see it as a blessing that our first clothes were for a music maestro like him.

It is a continuous learning experience. We are happy to be selling with prestigious stores like Harrods, London, but we are constantly trying to improve and do better. The international fashion sensibility is very different from India, that’s the challenge but it’s also very exciting. Our work is quite universal and appreciated by women all over the world.

We don’t believe in trends and believe in beautiful clothes that are timeless and surpass trends.

I have the support of my parents, especially my mother. We had to do the Lakme Grand Finale in 2012 when our daughter was only 2 months old! I couldn’t have done it without my mother. We have a good team of people in our studio and that has also helped me manage with fewer working hours, though it’s a constant juggle.
