The first thing we did for our Organic lunchbox was to set up a website- www.dialorganic.com where we retailed all the organic products which are doing fairly well. The major drawback was its price. One will have to spend a little more on organic than the normal products. This played in mind over the period of time. While brainstorming with my father once and discussing on the ways to make organic food more accessible, we came up with an idea of serving a meal. Its price would definitely be normal with our Nutritionist Kinjal Shah designing it. This is how an affordable wholesome organic meal was born at rupees 150. The whole idea of making it more accessible to more and more people and spreading the word was successful.

There can be two things pointed out here. One, that organic is a comparatively a new industry. It has been around for a while, but has started growing only in past 2-3 years as the awareness is increasing among the masses. So, there is a potential need of having a big market for such products. Second is that we have created a unique service of lunchbox which no one else offers. Brands like Organic India and Conscious Food are our partners and we are happy to sell their products. Talking about the Lunch box, it is the most innovative product and a step forward.

Website is one umbrella where one can buy all products ranging from the monthly grocery, to cosmetics and to even organic cotton clothes. We also make sure to procure things for our customers which are not readily available on the website. Their need is always taken care off. What I would say about it is, it is a one stop shop for organic. About the lunchbox we have always been getting good reviews and we also have a very dedicated servicing team which takes a special care of our customer’s demands.

Let’s consider two aspects here, one is the health of farmers and other is their earnings. Considering the health of our farmers, since organic does not involve any sort of chemical fertilizers or HYV seeds they are bound to be healthier. Organic uses only traditional methods of production one being crop rotation. He also gets a better pricing for his produce since we know the quality of it. We also have a Farmer’s Market where they get to know the value of each and every product. Since most of it is exported, we pay high price for it.

Organic is not a magic portion. It is just a step ahead to a better lifestyle. If you are being ignorant to such products it’s like you have choices but you fail to select the right one. Organic was not always available and it was 100 times more expensive than it is today. If you compare the market products, organic products are hardly 15% more expensive. I should tell this that it is a must for all pregnant moms and kids out there. There is no direct benefit of using these products but if you are using it, you would definitely contract less of such diseases like Cancer and Parkinsons.

The whole idea of lunchbox shows how much we are trying to make things affordable but just sticking to the basic cost. Our line of products, that we have launched are also always priced as low as possible.

The website is national and we deliver everywhere in India. Lunchbox scheme is only in Mumbai currently but we are speaking to people in Vadodara and Surat for our launch there since a lot of them are interested. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a positive response.
