A lot of care is usually taken while cooking food, especially in the matter of cholesterol. We use oil that has good cholesterol and helps prevent the bad cholesterol from harming our health. According to known nutritionist Lovisa Nilsson, it is easy to keep your cholesterol levels in control with a few basic strategies or tips. Here are the tips that will help keep your blood cholesterol levels in control.

Eating SuperFruits

Eating fruits is a good idea to fight cholesterol. However, there are certain fruits that are known as SuperFruits for their high ability to fight cholesterol. Strawberries are known to have the ability of reducing bad cholesterol or LDL by almost 14 %.

Food rich in unsaturated fats

Eat food rich in unsaturated fats such as fish, nuts, ground flax seeds, olive oil and vegetables such as avocado. They have omega-3 essential fatty acids that lower the levels of LDL in the blood.

Increase intake of fibre

Cereals, whole grain breads, pulses and beans are all high in fermentable fibre content. This makes them difficult to digest in the gut. They attach to the bad cholesterol and get removed from the body in the form of waste. This way, you indirectly reduce the bad cholesterol from the body.

Drinking red wine occasionally

Saponin, a compound found in red wine blocks the absorption of bad cholesterol in your body. Drinking red wine occasionally greatly helps keep the LDL in control. However, it is not suitable to drink red wine regularly as it may also lead to other health conditions such as liver diseases and high blood pressure.
