Diwali and Weight Loss?- Tips By Mansi Padechia

Goal: It will be cruel to lose weight during Diwali, rather be successful in maintaining your weight and shed off extra calories after so called “weighty festival”.

Portion Control: You can ENJOY your favorite foods like burger, panipuri, pavbhaji, biryani and lots more. But, if they are taken in small quantity it will help you from adding extra weight.

Begin your meal with vegetable soup or salad and then start with main course so that you can prevent second serving.

Go Nuts: Opt for handful of nuts. As it gives you 60-100 kcal, they are rich in proteins and minerals. Nuts contain essential nutrients and array of health protective biological ingredients. It improves overall quality of diet, but remembers to just take handful of them.

Exercise: Focus will be more towards social gathering but do not divert your mind from Exercise. As it helps you to shed off extra calories and stay calm. You can modify your usual exercise routine by either cutting down on duration or frequency of workout. For example: If you walk 6 days /week for 60 mins, you can reduce to 4 days / wk for 30 – 40 mins , point here is to be consistent with exercise.

diwali-5Sweets – Why to avoid sweets? I know this festive season, it’s hard to resist sweets buts it’s easy to make smart choice – you can choose low calorie (150- 200kcal) tasty and healthy milk based desserts like rosgulla, sandesh, rabdi, yogurt made from skimmed milk.

diwali-6Drink: As we all know common saying drink like fish, water is a weight loss drink. OR you can opt for low calorie drinks like sweet or salted lime soda, Nariyalpani, or ½ glass of fruit juice, jaljeerapani.
