Don’t Lose Your Food, Lose Weight

Last Sunday I went to a wedding party and you know what I discovered that most women over there feared about their weight. And to keep themselves slim and fit they cut down their list of edibles. Now that is sad. I would never do so. Yes, I may not like to have foods with high calories and huge fat but I will not stop eating food.

Ideally we all should have breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner. Now what I am doing is swapping. I know my taste and as per my taste I swap my food menu. I see if the food I am having has Omega-3 fatty acids and Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fatty acid (MUFA & PUFA). These are also dangerous for heart and of course can make you fat. So if my choice of food has these I swap those with other close alternatives with similar taste and features.

I was lucky to have a friend in the Pediatrics department in AIMS. She advised me that for my breakfast I should have something below 300 calories. Which ended me having something like peanut butter with whole wheat bread, one scrambled egg with a slice of veggie bacon and such.

Then I thought why not just follow a perfect food chart and I asked her to give me a chart of fixed diet. But she refused, saying that we should have something that we wish to eat, and if it has MUFA & PUFA or fat and calories in huge amount then we should switch. So I asked her to tell me about the calories that I should have in lunch, brunch and dinner.

Finally I got the list

  • Breakfast should be no more than 300 calories
  • Lunch ideally should be around 400 to 500 calories
  • Snacks, sweets and pickles should not cross 150 calories a day (which sadly left me with only once a day mango pickle and only two glasses of wine)
  • Dinner, the last meal of the day should be no more than 500 to 550 calories (sounds a lot similar to lunch)

Thereafter my favorite dinner had much to do with steak, pork and mutton (mostly cooked in olive oil). All these things I never had before, because I thought them to be the reason of making me as well as other women fat and ugly. But now I know the secret of good health which is to enjoy the food with least bothering about your health (except for swapping few dishes). Hence, eat healthy and lose weight in a proper manner.
