Stuffed Chilas

For the Chilas
  • 1 cup
  • a pinch
  • 1 tbsp + for cooking
  • to taste
For the stuffing
  • 2 cups
  • 1 cup
  • 1/2 cup
  • 1
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 tbsp
  • to taste
For the Chilas
  • In a bowl mix the gram flour, asafetida, salt and 1 tbsp of oil to make a thin batter, using enough water.
  • Heat a nonstick griddle and lightly grease it with oil.
  • Pour a ladleful of the mixture on the griddle and spread it evenly to make a thin pancake.
  • Using a little oil, cook on both sides. Take care not to brown the chilas.
  • Repeat for the remaining batter to make 2 chilas.
For the stuffing mixture
  • Heat butter in a pan, add to it cumin seeds and green chillies.
  • Now add tomatoes and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add cottage cheese, peas, chaat masala and salt. Sauté for a few more minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and divide into 12 portions.
How to proceed
  • Place one portion of the stuffing mixture on a chila and fold it to make a semi-circle.
  • Repeat same with remaining chilas and stuffing.
  • Top with green chutney and serve hot.
